Artificial grass: frequently asked questions
-
Can artificial grass be installed by anyone?
If you are a handy DIYer, you can install it yourself using our installation guide. However, installation takes time, and some experience is recommended. Any damage afterwards is at your own risk. For best results, we recommend professional installation.
-
Can artificial grass be laid in any shape?
Yes! Artificial grass can be cut into circles, geometric patterns, or irregular shapes to fit your space perfectly.
-
Can artificial grass be installed around trees?
Absolutely. Cut-outs can be made to fit around tree trunks, following their shape. Our turf is perforated, allowing rainwater to seep through.
-
On which surfaces can artificial grass be installed?
Namgrass can be laid on earth, sand, or stabilized soil. Ensure the surface is level and water-permeable. On non-permeable surfaces, proper drainage (like a slope or drainage mat) is essential.
-
Can artificial grass be installed on a slope?
Yes, as long as the slope is even. For steeper slopes, the top should be anchored with plugs or nails, which can be done invisibly.
-
What is the purpose of pressure-diffusing fabric or geotextile?
It protects the foundation, distributes pressure, prevents weeds from growing through drainage holes, and reduces crunching sounds on stabilized beds.
-
Can artificial grass also be installed without sand infill?
For residential use, sand infill is usually unnecessary. Namgrass uses frizzy support fibers to maintain upright blades. Sand may still be used for heavy-use areas, like sports or active children.
-
What is the warranty and will the grass discolour?
Namgrass is resistant to sunlight, chlorinated water, and animal urine. High-quality UV stabilizers ensure color retention. Snow and hail do not affect it. We offer a 10-year warranty.
-
Can pets or birds damage artificial grass?
Small droppings fall through the perforations naturally. For larger animals, remove faeces regularly. Urine will not discolour the fibers.
-
Can moles damage artificial grass?
The woven backing prevents moles from penetrating. However, if moles are already present in the soil, remove them before installation to avoid subsidence.
-
Can heavy items like inflatable pools be placed on artificial grass?
Yes. While fibers may temporarily flatten, they can easily be brushed back upright. Artificial grass will not discolour or permanently deform under weight.
-
How can I maintain artificial grass?
Consult our maintenance guide for detailed instructions. Regular brushing keeps fibers upright, and rinsing removes dust and debris.
-
Can I play sports on artificial grass?
Decorative turf is suitable for casual play, but sports-specific grass is required for official sports use. Football or tennis surfaces differ from landscaping grass.
-
Can I walk on artificial grass in winter?
Yes. Winter conditions do not damage the grass. For icy surfaces, grit is recommended; use road salt instead of kitchen salt.
-
Is artificial grass fireproof?
Artificial grass is self-extinguishing if installed correctly. Hot coals or cigarettes may cause melt spots but will not ignite the turf. Sand-filled turf provides extra safety.
-
Will artificial grass help with hay fever?
Artificial grass does not trigger grass pollen allergies, so hay fever sufferers can enjoy their garden without extra symptoms.
-
Is artificial grass environmentally friendly?
Namgrass fibers are free from plasticizers and heavy metals, making them safe for humans and the environment. It reduces the need for pesticides and fertilizers.
